Support the people responsible for your community.
A community entrance is a point of movement, not a complete security boundary. Remote observation can support the management team with context from agreed camera views and a clear route for raising concerns.
Discuss your property
Understand what your entrance cameras can show.
The review should consider inbound and outbound approaches, pedestrian access and the relationship between each camera and the actual gate. Glare, landscaping, vehicle queues and changing light can affect what is visible.
Operators work from agreed instructions for observable activity. A person or vehicle appearing on camera does not, by itself, establish whether access is authorised.
Vehicle approaches
Nominated entrance and exit views, subject to image quality and the field of view.
Pedestrian access
Selected common access routes with defined observation priorities.
Shared external zones
Approved communal areas included in the written monitoring scope.
Coordinate with the gate team and community manager.
The escalation plan should identify who can assess an access concern, contact a resident or attend the location. Where an onsite team is present, define how remote observations reach that team and who owns the next action.
Gate control, visitor authorisation, intercom handling and licence-plate recognition are not assumed parts of CCTV monitoring. Any additional capability would require separate confirmation of availability, equipment and scope.
Reduce ambiguity before it reaches the operator.
Provide a site map, current access arrangements and relevant schedules for contractors or common facilities. Identify planned works that could temporarily change movement around the entrance.
Property instructions should focus on behaviour and site rules. Monitoring cannot reliably infer someone’s identity, intentions or right of access from appearance alone.
Clear expectations.
From the beginning.
Every property is different. The right scope starts with the right questions.
Understand the processCan operators open our gates?
Gate operation is not included in the service described here. Any proposed remote access-control arrangement would need a separate technical and operational assessment and explicit agreement.
Can CCTV confirm whether every visitor is authorised?
A camera view alone cannot reliably establish a visitor’s authority. A defined visitor process and the appropriate onsite or management contact remain necessary.
Can monitoring cover both gate and communal areas?
Both can be considered where suitable authorised camera views are available. NETEX must confirm the selected views, monitoring hours and escalation instructions.
